Find Out the Age of Your Appliances
Do you know how old your plumbing appliances are? The average homeowner doesn’t until it’s time for them to replace one. Newer models have the manufacturing/installation date stamped on the labels. Older models require you to do a little decoding. It may seem like you have to go through a lot of trouble just to find a date, but there is a good reason for you to do so.
If your water heater seven years or older, now is a good time for you to start looking for a replacement. Plus, by shopping for a new water heater or plumbing appliance now, you’ll have more time to research your options and save up for it.

If your water heater temperature is higher than 115°F, you’re putting yourself and everyone in your household at risk of serious burns and scalding. 115°F is a comfortably warm/hot temperature for most people. If you prefer things a little cooler, lower the temperature a little more. The lower your hot water tank is set, the more money you’ll save in energy costs.
Showers or Baths?
If you prefer to take baths on most days, your water company is thanking you. Baths use and waste considerably more water than showers. Reduce your water usage by taking more five-minute showers.
