Being a homeowner certainly has a variety of challenges. From failed heating systems and high energy usage to leaks or flooding and problematic toilets, the challenges can definitely be many. With that said, toilets can create all sorts of problems and challenges for homeowners and their families. Toilets certainly make their fair share of noises, most of which we can all identify. For instance, after a typical toilet flushing you hear the sound of the tank refilling. Surely this is a noise we are all familiar with. However, there are times when a toilet will make unfamiliar sounds causing us to be concerned. One such sound is that of a toilet gurgling or bubbling. A bubbling or gurgling sound coming from your toilet could be cause for concern. With that said, the team here at Steve Mull Plumbing wants to share some insight on this unfamiliar sound and its causes with our many valued clients here in Lebanon and in the surrounding towns as well.
What Causes That Gurgling Sound?
If your toilet has any type of a clog or is blocked in any way a bubbling or gurgling sound may be heard. If, however, you confirm that your toilet has no visible or obvious clog and is able to flush easily, you may very well have a clog in the actual drain line of your home’s toilet or perhaps in the main sewer system line that is connected to your home.
If the block is in your home’s drain line, then it will only impact the toilet connected to that specific line. If the blog is in the main sewer system line, then it can easily impact all the toilets in your home.
The actual toilet gurgling sound is that of air pressure resulting from the clog or blockage. When a blockage is present, it can cause air to flow back into your home’s drain line and pipes and thereafter back into your toilet bowl. This is what causes the gurgling or bubbling sound. Often times, plunging the toilet can resolve the issue. If after plunging, however, you find the problem still occurs, then we highly recommend you call in one of our skilled plumbers here at Steve Mull Plumbing.
Our team will identify the root source of the problem and determine whether the clog is located in your home’s drain line or in the main sewer system from the outside of your home. Whatever the source of the problem, rest assured our team has got you covered. We will identify the source and provide an effective and efficient solution in no time at all. We do want to advise our customers that you should never allow a constant bubbling or gurgling noise in your toilet to go unattended for an extended period of time.
